What does it actually check?+
The metadata inside the file: Content Credentials (C2PA), the IPTC digital source type label, PNG text chunks written by Stable Diffusion, ComfyUI, InvokeAI and NovelAI, and generator names in EXIF and XMP tags.
If it finds nothing, is the image real?+
No, and we never say so. Screenshots, re-uploads and most social sites strip metadata, and anyone can remove it. No marks means we have no evidence either way.
Can it look at the pixels and tell?+
Not yet. Pixel-level AI detectors are unreliable and keep falling behind new generators, so we do not show a guess as if it were a finding.
Do you verify Content Credentials?+
We read them but do not verify their digital signature.
Is my file stored?+
No. It is read in memory to answer your request and discarded. Files up to 10 MB are accepted.
